TRIBAL NATIONS

At ISC, we recognize that the assumptions, conventions, and methods that have been developed for the general population will often be inappropriate where tribal people or tribal homelands are affected, especially when it comes to disasters. Not understanding the unique political, legal, cultural, and historical circumstances of each tribal nation may introduce dangerous bias, perpetuate inaccuracies, and lead to decisions that are not grounded in reality, culturally viable, or legally tenable. We recognize each tribe is different. Our approach to help each tribe become more disaster resilient does not rely on a one-size fits all solution.
