To assist in preparing and responding to the 2009 Fall H1N1 Influenza Pandemic, ISC was on the front lines working in temporary Dispensing and Vaccination Centers as it deployed up to 10 staff members to aid in preparedness, training, reporting, and managing of staff and vital information for the second largest health department in the nation during the H1N1 pandemic. One ISC staff person, Joseph Monahan, performed exceptionally well. As one DVC Coordinator acknowledged, “the politeness and professionalism he conducted himself with as he eased client bottlenecks and handled issues was a refreshing resource during this emergency operation”.
ISC services during the campaign included providing a NIMS compliant organization structure, participation and training of staff in mass vaccination clinics, assistance in the management of staff in 7 distinct mass vaccination centers, and ensuring and tracking the delivery of vital medical supplies such as vaccine. Through these collaborative efforts, ISC and its client has been mentioned as a model and best practice for mass vaccination operations.
