Hurricane Irma hit the Florida Keys as a Category 4 storm and a second landfall on Marco Island as a Category 3. Irma caused billions of damage throughout Florida and Georgia. In response, ISC mobilized its disaster recovery experts to support communities in assessing the damages to vital infrastructure and government assets and provide technical assistance in the delivery of Federal disaster assistance programs, to include FEMA Public Assistance. In August 2017, Hurricane Harvey devastated the State of Texas becoming the costliest hurricane to date with an estimated $200 billion in damages. ISC's disaster recovery experts have mobilized to Texas to support local communities, utilities, and other vital critical infrastructure sector assets across eastern Texas and the greater Houston area. An unprecedented 31 inches of rain fell in areas of Louisiana and Texas, causing one of the most severe flooding events in recent history. ISC mobilized a large team of technical disaster recovery specialists to assist FEMA in the delivery of Federal disaster assistance programs, to include FEMA Public Assistance, to the State of Texas, local communities, and eligible private non-profits. ISC was selected to deliver POD training to stakeholders, partnering organizations and volunteers of the fourth largest county in the United States. This in-person training covers the process of mass dispensing and distribution under a State of Emergency and/or Public Health Emergency and in accordance with county-specific guidelines.
ISC was selected to support deliberate and adaptive planning and technical assistance for a variety of emergency management programs and initiatives in support of the Department of Homeland Security/Federal Emergency Management Agency (DHS/FEMA), Response Directorate. Under the Response Directorate, the Planning and Exercise Division directly supports Headquarters, Regional, and Interagency planning and exercise initiatives that enable the Agency to provide a successful Federal operational response and recovery capabilities for disasters and catastrophes that vary in size, scale, and effect.
ISC, through its teaming partner, was selected by FEMA’s Office of Federal Disaster Coordination (OFDC) to provide professional consulting services to include analytical and technical support to improve the recovery of the impacted states through coordination with the FDRCs and RSF field representatives. The FDRC leads the Federal Government’s effort to develop a Recovery Support Strategy (RSS) that supports the recovery needs of impacted communities, State and Tribes. This is accomplished by facilitating high-level coordination of RSF Agencies tasked with conducting disaster impact analysis for their respective areas of responsibility.
