Use of the Odysseus|KMS has provided a common platform for knowledge management in public health and healthcare system preparedness and planning in Illinois. Vertical and horizontal integration of preparedness and planning elements, increased visibility and version control are facilitated by this system environment. The experience, knowledge and information collected reflects that of 3,200 registered users and 300 Knowledge Management Systems, informing doctrine and guidance, standardized plans, local and regional best practices. Local, regional, and statewide preparedness and planning efforts have benefited from the strategy developed in the KMS Environment.
On April 12, Integrated Solutions Consulting assisted both Cook and DuPage County Health Departments in validating their efforts to respond to a public health emergency. More than 60 volunteers participated in a training event, and received information on how to support their County during a Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) activation. Kudos to both departments for coordinating this important effort!

ISC has been engaged by the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) to perform general consulting services. As part of this multi-year project, ISC was tasked with the review of all after-action reports on file for a six year period. This data was reviewed and analyzed for common issues.
The result was a comprehensive report, which included an executive summary and a list of more than 1200 observations and more than 200 IP recommendations. Common themes were identified and highlighted for CDPH Leadership; these included: Coordination with External Partners, Long-Term Care Facilities/Hospitals, Guidance, Training, Staffing, Operational Periods/Command, and Technology.
ISC has been engaged by the Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH) to perform general consulting services. As part of this project, ISC was tasked with assisting in the development, conduct, and evaluation of a full-scale point of dispensing (POD) exercise.
The exercise, which was a continuation of a tabletop exercise conducted in 2011, provided an opportunity to utilize an enhanced building block approach to exercise design, and this approach ensured that planning was validated during the exercise. In addition, ISC conducted throughput measurement and analysis in order to meet a Cities Readiness Initiative (CRI) requirement.
